The Indianapolis Colts held true to their plans Thursday night in the NFL draft and made Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck this year’s No. 1 pick.

Many say the Colts screwed up and should have taken Baylor QB Robert Griffin III(below) .

Luck will get a four-year deal for $22 million. That's relatively modest by NFL standards, but it's part of a trend in which "rookies are no longer getting huge contracts."

The top 5 picks:

1) Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck, Stanford, quarterback
2) Washington Redskins: Robert Griffin III, Baylor, quarterback
3) Cleveland Browns: Trent Richardson, Alabama, running back
4) Minnesota Vikings: Matt Kalil, USC, offensive tackle
5) Jacksonville Jaguars: Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma State, wide receiver
