LIL' WAYNE: Mountain Dew Deal in Danger?
It will if the family of Emmett Till has its way. That’s because the family of the civil rights icon is still upset that Wayne hasn’t apologized for an offensive reference in an unreleased remix of Future’s “Karate Chop.”
In a statement to AllHipHop, Till’s family members say that “since the rapper has not apologized,” they “intend to pressure Lil' Wayne's sponsors, namely Mountain Dew.” Just in case Weezy doesn't get the significance of what they're saying, they add, “A similar tactic by women's group UltraViolet resulted in Reebok dropping Rick Ross from their campaign.”
MY2CENTS:
- Wayne had better learn from Rick and get a proper apology out there ASAP.
- Sometimes, hitting them in the wallet is the only way to get people's attention.
- Companies are going to start looking at rappers as more headache than their endorsements are worth, and stop signing them.
- Hey, he'll still have Truck Fit.
